Hi, and Welcome to my website!

I'm Susan Williams Beckhorn and I write for children because, when I was a kid, books meant everything to me. I just figured someday it would be my turn to tell my own stories.

I love to visit schools and share what I do with kids. I would have been thrilled to have an author or illustrator visit my school. It would have made me feel that my dream was more possible.

Check out my new blog!susanwilliamsbeckhorn.blogspot.com

You can read about my recent trip to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History where I met one of the researchers who helped me with Wind Rider, curator of anthropology, Sandra Olsen, and saw her exhibit, The Horse, on loan from the Met in NYC until May. It's fabulous!

Just for fun: I'm posting some of my ongoing collection of "Four Footed Rhymes" about the special animals in my life on my blog--plus photos! Give them a read and let me know what you think. Should I submit them to a publisher, or stick to prose?

Contest!!! The first five people who write reviews for Wind Rider on Amazon.com will win a signed, hardcover copy from me. Just send me your name and address (with your parent's permission) Oh, and please don't bother to review it if you hated it!

I was part of the faculty for the Highlights Foundation Chautauqua Conference July 12-19 2008 where I gave workshops on Point of View, Character, and Plot. To read transcripts from my workshops click here:
